‘Rise from the Deathbed’ is the new limited-edition 12” dual EP vinyl release from Jacksonville, FL melodic punk rockers The Softer Side.

Formed in 1999 and comprised of members from legendary North Florida bands Inspection 12, Whaleface, Hatrick, and Redline, The Softer Side is known for tight guitar riffs, pounding drums, creative bass lines, and ultra-melodic vocals.

‘Rise from the Deathbed’ combines The Softer Side’s 2024 EP ‘Deathbed’ and their 2013 EP ‘Rise from the Embers’ – neither of which has previously been released on vinyl – into a single limited-edition 12” dual EP vinyl record that features entirely new artwork by the band’s guitarist, Scott Sugarman.

‘Deathbed’ (2024), is a treat for longtime The Softer Side fans and new listeners discovering them for the first time. It showcases six songs blending skate punk, pop punk, rock, folk, and metal influences. ‘Deathbed’ offers an emotional, immersive auditory experience, combining raw storytelling with infectious punk-rock energy.

‘Rise from the Embers’ (2013) features well-crafted songs with catchy and meaningful lyrics. Skate punk, pop punk, and melodic rock vibes permeate this EP. This release also features Peter Mosley (former Yellowcard bassist and current Inspection 12 guitarist) on bass guitar.
Both EPs were mixed and mastered by Paul Lapinski of My Platinum Sound whose credits include Yellowcard, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Inspection 12, Fishbone, Evergreen Terrace, and more.
Altogether, this dual EP 12” vinyl release delivers nearly an hour of intense, heartfelt, and creative melodic punk rock anthems, capturing the evolution and depth of The Softer Side’s signature sound. For fans of said member bands, as well as Yellowcard, No Use For A Name, The Ataris, Face To Face, Strung Out, and Rufio.

‘Rise from the Deathbed’ is being jointly released by Double Helix Records (USA), High End Denim Records (CANADA), and Pee Records (AUS/NZ/JPN).

Officially my favorite and exclusive deodorant.
Style: Vintage Suede, Size: 2.65 Ounce (Pack of 1)
This is the most amazing smelling deodorant I've ever used, and unique, too. Very smooth just like their shaving cream, and I haven't had any irritation. I've been complimented by a few people now on how good I smell.

Smells great. Doesn't mess with my pits.
Style: Casked Vanilla, Size: 2.65 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I ordered the casked vanilla scent. My lady loves it on me. The added benefit I wasn't expecting was no more sour pit smell by the end of the day that has plagued me using other brands. I'll keep ordering this stuff for now.

Effective
Style: Italian Bergamot, Size: 2.65 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Smells is nice but not amazing, the body wash in the Bergamot smells much better. But this stuff lasts. No chalky / sticky feeling but still keeps me BO free for two days straight.

Can't stop laughing
Format: Hardcover
These are amazing tales from Turkey. Beautiful narration of several very old tales. They bring the Hoja back to life. My kids and I thoroughly enjoy the stories and can't stop laughing as we read the tales again and again. The illustrations are superb.

Muslim Folktales of a Wise but Silly Teacher
Format: Hardcover
Reason for Reading: I love legends, folklore and the like. This was an area completely unknown to me so I was intrigued to read these tales. These stories come from Turkey and are Muslim tales of a wise man, a trickster and a fool all wrapped up in the same person. Hoji is a Muslim teacher, some respect him others don't. Historically, Nasrudin Hoja (who goes by a host of different spellings) is considered an actual man who may have lived in the 1200s, his funny tales with messages have been handed down and built upon all over the middle east and across Asia, even reaching as far as China. But this book sticks with the tales told in Turkey, centered on the then village of Aksehir. There are ten folktales presented here, each is short (only a few pages long) and Hoji while being a wise man is really very silly indeed. Children should find these stories humorous and laugh at the solutions Hoji comes up with to his, or others, troubles. He is always fair and stuck-up people will get pulled back down to reality. Hoji is a winner for the common folk and isn't afraid to take on a man of much greater status than himself. Hoji is also a trickster and likes to cause a little trouble by bringing someone back down to earth and showing him he is not above other people just because he has money or position. Then there is Hoji the fool, who will listens to what people tell him and in the end it is he who has been made a fool of, but still a lesson is being taught. Most of the stories have a lesson attached to them though they are not always blatantly obvious and do require you to think what the message of the story is. A couple, I think were just silly stories, as I could not find a message hidden in them at all. The book is told in simple language and as I said the stories are short so I'm recommending this for lower elementary children or as a read-aloud to younger children of any age. The illustrations are beautiful. Capturing the art of Turkish design in bold, bright cartoon-ish style pictures which seem to be done in a mixed-media format and, if I'm not mistaken, that includes a tad of collage as well. This is a fun introduction to a new cultural folktale that kids are sure to have fun with.
